All Year Round Weekend Tennis

Generally speaking this is the best time to play “mix in” tennis. “Mix in” tennis, is where you turn up and are guaranteed (providing there are 4 people) a game without pre-arranging a set.

Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10am until 12pm are reserved for mix in play and if you are seeking to play some social tennis this is a good time to get a game by mixing in with other members without having to prearrange anything.

At other times over the weekend if matches are not being played (check the match fixture list on this website if you are not certain) the courts are usually available for general social play but you will need to have someone to play with.

All Year Round Weekday Tennis

During the week there are just turn up and play mix in sessions, just like the weekend mix ins but often a bit quieter.

Tuesday morning from 9.00 is Ladies Morning

Thursday morning from 9.00 is Mixed Mix In.

If you don’t have anyone one to play with and would like to play some doubles on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings many members belong to an organised group of players that play regularly together every week, mens, mixed and ladies so contact the secretary if you would like details of this group.

Summer Evening Program

During the summer months (March to September) we have an active weekly evening program.  Starting soon after 6pm and lasting until it becomes too dark to play the club is very busy from Tuesday to Thursday. Men’s and Ladies’ nights are intended for players of all ability to come down and mix in with members in open play, which is a great way to get to know other members. On Thursday evenings mixed club night runs under the supervision of one of our coaches Rupert Tillbrooke. Rupert ensures that players of like ability are matched together for enjoyable games for all comers. Just turn up and play!

The Junior nights on Fridays are also run by our coaches Rupert and Dan and split into two groups, primary school children (4.30 – 6.00) and secondary school children (6.00 – 8.00).

The summer season will effectively start on the Tuesday the 28th March 2023 when we hold our first Club Open night.

Midweek evening tennis is played every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday giving members, of all tennis abilities, the opportunity to mix in rather than play in fixed pre-arranged fours.

Starting from 6pm and lasting until we can no longer see the ball:

Tuesday night is for men

Wednesday night is for ladies

Thursday night is Club night (mixed) and is run by our club coach Rupert Tillbrooke.

Once a month Jane Bisseker, our Social Secretary, organises a supper night to coincide with the Club night.  Keep an eye on our website notice board for details of these and our other social events.

Doubles play always has precedence over singles play.

Note that Juniors have priority on all courts between 16.00 – 18.00 Monday to Friday. At all other times they have priority on Court no 5 other than during adult mix-in sessions and between 8 and 10am on Saturdays and the occasional matches on all the lower courts.
