ELTC 2020 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING NOTICE – SATURDAY 21ST NOVEMBER 2020 AT 10:30 A.M.

Following current government guidelines, we are unable to hold a face to face Annual General Meeting. However, we are pleased to inform you that this year’s Annual General Meeting will be held virtually via Zoom at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 21st November 2020. You will be sent a Zoom link a few days before the AGM together with dial-in numbers if you are unable to connect on-line. We will also provide guidance on how to speak and vote at the AGM.

If you are unable to attend the AGM, please can you send your apologies and the name of your proxy to attend and vote at the meeting to  [email protected] by responding to the email sending you this Notice. To facilitate voting at the meeting, we recommend that the Chairman is appointed as your proxy.

All of the current members of the Committee wish to continue in office. The following directors will stand for re-election at the AGM:

  • Treasurer – Jaap Hesslink (to be re-elected per Article 23.2)
  • Grounds Officer – Nefyn Provis-Evans (to be re-elected per Article 25)
  • Ladies’ Captain – Victoria Aitchison (to be re-elected per Article 25)
  • Mixed Team Captain – Kate Curson (to be elected for two year term per Articles 25 and 27.1)

Any member aged 21 years and over may nominate another member who satisfies the requirements of Article 17.5 to stand for election to any of these positions.[1] The nomination must be seconded by another member aged 21 years and over. The nomination form can be obtained from the Club Administration Officer. It must be completed and given to the Company Secretary at least two clear days before the AGM.

The Chairman (Eric Rovick), Company Secretary (David Kendall) and Men’s Team Captain (Rupert Tilbrooke) were elected at the 2019 AGM for two year terms. Jim McGown was elected by the Committee to be President for 2020.

The following positions are subject to vote at the AGM per Bye-law 2.2:

  • Junior Secretary – Ken Michie
  • Membership Secretary – Sally Radcliffe
  • Tournament Secretary – Louise Behan
  • Social Secretary – Jeanette Rickerty

The Head Coach (Ben Wood) and the Club Welfare and Administration Officer (Andree Haxton) are appointed by the Committee and are Committee members.

[1] Article 17.5 provides that each member of the Board must:

17.5.1   satisfy HMRC’s fit and proper person test to be involved in the general control, management and administration of the Club and must declare (in the required form) that he is a fit and proper person prior to being elected;

17.5.2   be a Voting Member of the Club; and

17.5.3   be aged 21 years and over.
