MEMBERSHIP

Are your family members receiving this newsletter?

We have had a number of emails from members who are not receiving emails, and whose partners are receiving several copies. This is because we set up our membership system in good faith to accommodate family invoicing, so that each family receives one invoice only, as they have in the past. A decision was taken at the committee meeting last Monday night to move to individual invoicing, so that every member over 18 will receive their own invoice, and consequently, their own newsletters.

If this applies to your family, please send Sally the email addresses of all members of your family who are over 18, and she will amend their records : [email protected]. Thank you for your understanding.

Please note, this does not apply to new members, who have already been set up individually.

We are pleased to report that we have filled all 116 vacancies, and held a very successful New Members’ Day last Sunday. If you are a new member who couldn’t make it on that occasion, please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are unsure when to play/who to play with/if you are “up to standard”. Sally Radcliffe more than happy to arrange to meet you at the club and discuss your options.

Our waiting list is approaching 300 again and growing by the day!

Socials

All social events and our club nights have now started.

Our Junior members are still producing bacon rolls on a Saturday morning which are selling well. Please support them who are fundraising for the The World Scout Jamboree.

Our first supper night in 2 years was held a last week.  Our thanks go to Gill Parkes and Heather Nye who cooked a delicious meal, Spanish chicken with rice and salad followed by homemade sticky toffee pudding. Many thanks to Chris Rice who helped too.  If you love cooking and would like to do a supper in June or July please let Jeanette Rickerty know at [email protected]

Last weekend we had our first musical social with one of our musician member, Ross and Vicky from ‘Out of the blue’ who performed to a large crowd

In May & June we have the following exciting social events:

Bank Holiday Tournament – Monday 2nd with prizes

Ladies Prosecco and Curry Evening – Wednesday 11th

For the regular players on Wednesday nights, if you’d like to go along, you can start off the 4’s at 6pm, in the hope that other ladies will want to play, it will be a case of minimal warm up, play a set, sudden death deuces and then mix-in. That way, everyone should get to play before the supper is served.

Duggie Carlean is organising either a take away or Fish & chips evening on a Men’s night, on Tuesday the 17 th. If you are able to help arrange the supper please contact Dugie at [email protected]

Supper night on Thursday the 19th at 8 pm

Please also put our special additional Bank Holiday Tournament in your diary: June 3rd, during the Queen’s Jubilee holiday weekend.

Due to a very popular demand, one of our member, Tim Sutton is back to entertain us with his magic and music talents on Saturday 11th June. Watch this space, as places are limited. Sign up sheet will be available on the notice board at the clubhouse very soon.
