Welcome to our December Newsletter. We hope you and your family have had a very happy and healthy Christmas and holiday period.
CLUB AGM
Thank you to all those who attended the AGM on Saturday 6th December, which went very smoothly, with around 107 members either attending or sending their proxy. We would like to thank you for all your support. The 2026 AGM will be held on Saturday 5th December 2026 – please put this date in your diary.
GROUNDS & CLUBHOUSE
We hope that you have been enjoying our newly carpeted courts on courts 4, 5, 6 and 7. Thank you all for your patience and support during the works.
MEMBERSHIP – IMPORTANT REMINDER
Membership Renewals
Membership renewal will be made by direct debit via GoCardless. Payments will be taken on Friday 6th February 2026. For those who want to cancel their membership there will be a cancellation option in the email notification. Any member who wants to cancel after the direct debit payment has been made will need to contact the Membership Secretary and a £20 administrative fee will be charged in order to make a late cancellation and receive a refund. New members will be offered a place before the start of the membership year on the 1st March.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Membership payment date: 6th February 2026. If you have not paid your membership by then, your membership will lapse, and your place will be offered to those on the waiting list.
Parents/guardians should also see and renew any linked junior memberships.

TEAM TENNIS
All the winter matches are well underway, with some matches being cancelled recently due to the weather. All have been rescheduled to play in the new year.
If anyone is interested in participating in any of the teams, please let our respective captains know, as follows:

SOCIALS
It has been a very successful year for social activities at the club. In December, we held two charity events that were both well supported and highly enjoyable.
Early in the month, over 30 members attended our Charity Christmas Lunch, each bringing a dish to share. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised £225 for Rennie Grove Day Hospice in St Albans, which also supports the Harpenden community.
On Sunday 7 December 2025, we hosted a Charity Music & Magic Evening featuring performances by Tim Sutton and the Upbeat Choir. This wonderful event raised an impressive £3,570.75 for Future Academy, a charity providing education, sport and enrichment opportunities for refugee children in Beirut.
Our Super Social Secretary has been busy planning an exciting calendar of events for 2026. Please see the details below and be sure to mark some of these key dates in your diary.
