Welcome to our February Newsletter.
CLUB TOURNAMENT – CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS TUESDAY 3rd MARCH 2026

Please make sure that you sign up by the deadline, as late entries will not be accepted.
The draw will be published on 8th March 2026 with the commencement of matches from 9th March 2026.
The Finals day is on 20th June 2026. In the case of inclement weather, finals day will be moved to 21st June 2026 (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FATHERS’ DAY)
EASTER HOLIDAY CAMPS – OPEN FOR BOOKING
The holiday camps will be run in the mornings (10:30-12:30) for groups of 5-8 year olds and 8-10 year olds and in the afternoons (12:30-15:30) for 11+ year olds
Week 1 – 30th March to 2nd April 2026
Week 2 – 7th April to 10th April 2026

TEAM TENNIS:
All the winter matches are still progressing. Some had to be rearranged due to bad weather.
We are now looking forward to the summer matches. We have many opportunities for members to participate in team tennis in the summer months, including the Datchworth league, Mixed Friendlies, Ladies Friendlies, Hot Rackets, Herts League and Mens National League.

This is a fun and friendly tournament, organised for Intermediate 16+ up to senior players and is a great way to meet and play with new people and have some fun followed by a delicious lunch!

FRIDAY 17TH APRIL – THE START OF THE JUNIOR NIGHTS – FREE TO JUNIOR MEMBERS
These are run by our wonderful coaches and we would love to see as many juniors as possible attending the Junior Nights and having a lot of fun.
- 4:30pm to 6pmfor Primary School age (must have a parent present for supervision)
- 6pm to 8pmfor Secondary School age (an adult volunteer needed each week to supervise).
There will be a tuck shop for the juniors and the bar will be open (we need a volunteer to run it) for the adults and hopefully it will be the start of many Friday evenings of basking in the sunshine.
SUNDAY 28th JUNE 2026 – JUNIOR TOURNAMENT – With reserve date of Sunday 5th July 2026.
This year, the tournament is organised by parents with the assistants of coach Dan and Rupert. Please let us know by emailing [email protected] if you are able to help with the planning and organisation. The tournament will not go ahead unless we have sufficient parent volunteers.
CHARITY
Please support the Easter Egg Raffle, organised by Harpenden Lions Club, to raise funds for the Willow Foundation, a charity founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson and his wife, to provide special breaks and experiences for seriously ill young adults. The giant Belgian Chocolate Easter Egg weigh 1kg! Each entry costs just £1 and we are aiming to raise at least £100 for this great charity. Please enter and help us to achieve our goal.

INVITATION – HARPENDEN FILM COMPETITION
Harpenden Town Council, together with the Harpenden Arts and Culture Forum, are excited to invite local young people up to the age of 25 to enter a new film competition.
With a theme of “What’s Important to Me?” this competition is a celebration of creativity, voice, and perspectives across our community. We’re encouraging young people to tell their stories through film and explore what truly matters to them, whether that might be people, places, passions or ideas.
With various age and awards categories (including soundtrack and script), the competition aims to nurture emerging talent and encourage creative expression at every stage. The initiative proudly supports the developing arts sector in Harpenden and is backed by the University of Hertfordshire and the Hertfordshire Film Office. Entries may be made by individuals, pairs, teams, community groups or schools and shortlisted entries will be invited to a grand awards evening on 17th April 2026, where the judges and category winners will come together to view and celebrate the winning films and the creativity behind them. There are also some fantastic prizes on offer.
